This was a terrible week for my diet. I’ve got no excuses either. I could blame it on our new dog by saying that I’ve just been too interested in keeping him occupied. That’s kept me from getting to the gym.
Sure. Yeah. I could, but what about all of the extra food and beer that I consumed? What’s my excuse there? Nah, it’s better if I just admit that I’ve got no excuses. Well, I’ve got one excuse. I’m weak. I won’t go over all of the ways I was led astray since last week’s check-in, but I suppose I can quickly go over the hightlights.
Last Sunday I helped some friends empty out their basement. They’re getting some work done and that meant that they had to bring all their stuff out to the garage. It was a couple hours of lifting, hauling, and climbing stairs. I broke a sweat, which was good for some exercise. So what went wrong there? Well, it didn’t help that I drank beer while I did it. All of us who were helping were. I couldn’t be the only one who wasn’t, could I? (cough…bullshit!)
Later that evening, with my motivation and willpower already weakened by an exhausting afternoon, I suggested to Jean that we head up for a set of 2-for-1s and a bite to eat. I was craving a big old burger. I wasn’t even going to try to fight it.
As for the rest of the week…I got to the gym only once, but there wasn’t even one day all week long that I went without at least a couple beers. I was just not in the zone. I don’t know what I can say other than to hope that next week is better.
The Official Weigh-in:
So what’s the damage? I guess it could be worse. It could always be worse. This week, I did go up. I came in at 258.2. That’s 2.2 pounds up from last week. That kind of sucks, but it is what it is. I should be able to bounce back. Eventually.
Week 10: 258.2
no, i know…that’s not how diets are supposed to work
Eventually, but probably not in the next couple weeks. We ordered pizza for dinner last night. That means I’ll be eating pizza for the next two days as well. This next weekend, we’re going up to the North Shore for a much-needed getaway together. That will most definitely include mass quantities of food and beverage. It’ll be weird leaving our new doggie behind with a friend when we’re gone. I hope he does alright in absence.
That’s it. That’s all for my 2020 Diet – Week 10 check-in. It’s not progress, but I’m still here. Checking in. Doing my due diligence. See ya next week.
